ProTint White is a titanium dioxide tint for latex and acrylic paint. Use it to lighten a color, make pastels, or turn a clear glaze into a whitewash.
What White is good for
- Fixing a mix that came out too dark.
- Pastels. Add to any color for soft, light versions.
- Whitewashes. Mix it into a clear water based glaze for whitewashed or pickled wood.
- Better coverage. Titanium dioxide White adds hiding power (but also lightens them).
Mixing with White
- Lamp Black: grays.
- Raw Umber: greige, taupe, and stone colors.
- Yellow Oxide: sand tones or creams.
- Permanent Red: pinks.
- Phthalo Blue: sky or powder blue.
White colorant or white base?
ProTint White is a colorant, not a tint base. To start a new light color, tint a white or pastel base paint. Reach for ProTint White when you need to lighten or adjust a color you've already mixed.
About ProTint
ProTint is our own line of high-strength, water based colorants. It works in latex and acrylic paint, stains, plasters, stuccos, caulks, and more. Each 16oz squeeze bottle has a flip top nozzle for dispensing small amounts without a mess. We recommend weighing your mixes in grams so you can repeat them accurately later. Don't overload your paint/base. Bases always have a maximum tint load and begin to weaken or break. For oil-based paint or lacquer, use Cal-Tint II instead.
