Phthalo Blue is a deep clean blue tint for latex and acrylic paint. Phthalocyanine blue is one of the strongest pigments made, so add slowly!
What Phthalo Blue is good for
- Blues from pale sky to deep navy.
- Greens and teals with Medium Yellow or Phthalo Green.
- Cool down a warm white or gray.
- Exterior surfaces. Phthalocyanine pigments are very fade-resistant.
Mixing with Phthalo Blue
- White: sky and powder blue.
- Lamp Black: navies.
- Phthalo Green: teals or turquoise.
- Organic Yellow or Medium Yellow: greens ranging from lime to forest.
- Burnt Umber: deep blue blacks.
Phthalo Blue or Phthalo Green?
Use Phthalo Blue for blues, navies, and greens mixed with yellow. Use Phthalo Green for clean emerald and jewel greens, and mix the two for teal.
Tips
Go slow with this one because of it's strength. Consider a small test batch and scale up by using weight ratios.
About ProTint
ProTint is our own line of high-strength, water based colorants. It works in latex and acrylic paint, stains, plasters, stuccos, caulks, and more. Each 16oz squeeze bottle has a flip top nozzle for dispensing small amounts without a mess. We recommend weighing your mixes in grams so you can repeat them accurately later. Don't overload your paint/base. Bases always have a maximum tint load and begin to weaken or break. For oil-based paint or lacquer, use Cal-Tint II instead.
