Norton ProSand 20 Packs
NEXT GENERATION 3X TECHNOLOGY
Norton Prosand is the next generation of Norton's best selling 3X Sandpaper. The new Prosand technology uses heat treating to toughen the grain which keeps it sharp for longer under extreme or heavy pressure. Increased backing weight, fiber-reinforcement and latex saturation provide stronger grain retention and tear-resistance while still providing high flexibility (great for folding & unfolding). To prevent clogging and loading a water-based, non-pigmented stearate coating is used in the manufacturing process. Non-pigmented stearate coatings also means you don't have to worry about any transfer of color onto your work!.
Norton no longer manufactures or distributes 3X sandpaper due to the higher quality and demand of ProSand. At US Paint Supply we feel confident that you'll enjoy ProSand just as much or more than you enjoyed 3X, and we've got 40+ years is business to back that statement up. Feel free to contact us if you have any concerns, but we'd suggest buying a pack or two in order to test ProSand out for yourself.
Norton ProSand Sandpaper is available with discounts when purchasing in bulk. Simply add the different grits you would like to purchase to your cart to receive the discount.

From the Manufacturer (Norton)
The Norton Prosand abrasive sheet offers more durability over an uncoated abrasive while resisting chip loading. This sheet is used for paint stripping, sanding and finishing on composites and fiberglass, and all-purpose bare wood sanding.
Coated abrasives have individual abrasive grains spaced at a predetermined distance from one another. An open coat covers about 50 to 70 percent of the coated surface with abrasive, for greater flexibility and resistance to clogging than a closed coat, which has 100 percent grain coverage. An open coat allows for longer usage time by clogging less, while a closed coat offers a finer surface finish than an equivalent open-coat abrasive. This sheet is open-coat. The stearate coating offers more durability over an uncoated abrasive while resisting chip loading. Stearated abrasives are non-pigmented to eliminate color transfer to the work surface. These sheets are typically used on portable sheet sanders and portable file sheet machines.
Zirconia alumina is a self-sharpening abrasive that allows for a faster cut rate and longer life than aluminum oxide, due to its ability to fracture and re-fracture, creating new cutting edges. Zirconia alumina is often used for high stock removal on wood and metals.
Low grit papers (e.g. 60 grit) are used for grinding surfaces while high grit (e.g. 400 grit) are used to polish surfaces.
Norton Abrasives is a US based manufacturing company of sanding, grinding, and polishing abrasives. They are ISO 9000 and 14001 certified for quality and environmental management.
