DEFY Extreme Wood Stain is a synthetic-resin, semi-transparent wood stain which has quickly become an industry standard in quality. Maintenance
US Paint Supply recommends that as DEFY begins to dirty or dull(should take years when applied properly) you wash the surface with a mild detergent & water. Under intense UV exposure and over enough time, the color will typically fade some. When fading occurrs, test if the surface is ready for a maintenance coat by sprinkling water onto the surface. If the water is immediately/quickly absorbed it is time for a new coat. Start with DEFY Wood Brigthener to clean the surface and lighten any graying that has occured. Allow 24 hours to dry. Once the surface is dry recoat the surface following the directions shown on the can of DEFY Deck Stain. In our experience this maintenance coat may come out somewhat darker than the origin application.
Maintenance Coat for Fading
- Test surface by sprinkling water. If quickly absorbed surface needs a recoat.
- Use DEFY Wood Brigthener on the surface to clean and lighten any graying.
- Allow 24 hours to dry
- With the surface prepped, follow the same steps as when you first applied the stain
- Keep in mind this coat may come out slightly darker than the original.
